DPS JAMMU ORGANIZES 'ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPRESS’

To promote skill, entrepreneurship and leadership among students, in alignment with the vision of NEP-2020,Delhi Public School Jammu organized 'ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPRESS’- an event inspired and designed on the pattern of the famous Television series 'Shark Tank' on25thSeptember, 2023.The special guest invited on the occasion was Ms. Ruhi Arora, DIPSITE Batch 2002-2003, a successful business entrepreneur. The aspiring student entrepreneurs pitched their business models in the similar fashion as the popular series to a panel of investors (Sharks)represented by Aakash Sharma(XII), HariharSharma (XII), DhruvKohli (XII)and persuaded them to invest Units (virtual currency) in their ideas.
Thirteen teams from DPS Jammu and two teams from DPS Katra, comprising two student innovators each, presented their thoroughly researched business ideasand product protypes, explaining the investors about their inspiration for their business model, key product features, marketing strategies, growth plan, gross sales, projected sales, net profit, cost of goods, profit margin, etc. The sharks on the other hand, cross-questioned the innovators about their business processes whether P2P, R2R and other practical operational insights necessary for successful entrepreneurship.
The highlight of the event was JARVIS- a voice modulated artificially intelligent video systemdesigned and developed byAakash Sharma (XII) who introduced the program, laid out the ground rules and even concluded the show by acknowledging the efforts of all team members.
The ideas presented by the young entrepreneurs ranged from agro tech, sex education, lost and found children, yum dummomosto solar powered dustbins, water cleaning drones with robotic arms, Ed tech,fashion,health, and beyond.
Third position was bagged by two teams- ParinaKandhari&AdvaySharma (IX)andSidhant&Shorya (XI) from DPS Katra.Manaswin and Bhinndeep, (X) along with Shalin(XII)&Prasan (XI) stood second, while the first position was bagged by KridayMisri and VaidikTagger of class X who presented the idea of CHASE, a GPS tracker with multiple features. The title of the Best Shark/Investor was bagged by Aakash Sharma and Harihar Sharma.
The esteemed management of DPS Jammu comprising hon’ble President-RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, the distinguished PVC-Dr.KuwaraniRitu Singh Ji and hon’ble Director-Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji congratulated the young innovators of DPS Jammu. They also applauded the efforts of Young Entrepreneurs and motivated them to excel in their future.
Ms. RuchiChabra, Principal-DPS Jammu, said that it is important to capitalise on the skill, creativity, and innovation of the youth by giving them an opportunity through such programs where they can fit into the shoes of an entrepreneur, pitch their ideas, and face challenges of convincing others of the value of their creations. It helps them develop their skills and also gain more confidence.
Headmistress, Ms.Meenu Gupta congratulated all participants for their brilliant performances and also encouraged them to come up with more such student led programs in the future.
The event was judged by Ms. DeeptiKandhari, Ms. Rupali Sharma and Ms. Insha Ahmed while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Head Boy, Aakash Sharma.
Also present on the occasion were Headmaster-Mr. Ravi Kumar Kotroo,Dy. Headmistress-Ms. Rimpi Sharma and Coordinators, Ms. MrignainiPathania, Ms.Anu Bali and Ms.Arti Sharma. The event concluded with instrumental national anthem followed by a group photograph.
