DPS Jammu Enthusiastically Celebrates International Day of Yoga at Two Mega Events

Under the visionary guidance of Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chairperson, Kunwrani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, Delhi Public School, Jammu proudly marked the 11th International Day of Yoga with remarkable participation in two grand celebrations organized by the Vishwa Yog Sansthan (World Yoga Institute) and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Department of School Education.
Around 100 students, along with dedicated teachers and supportive parents, took part in these inspiring events that emphasized the significance of yoga in nurturing physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.
Event 1: Three-Day Yoga Celebration at Har Ki Pauri
From 19th to 21st June 2025, students, teachers, and parents of DPS Jammu joined the Vishwa Yog Sansthan’s three-day yoga celebration held at Har Ki Pauri, Jammu. This initiative aimed to instill the values of a healthy and mindful lifestyle among the youth. The sessions began at 6:00 AM, with participants reporting at 5:45 AM each day, demonstrating admirable discipline and commitment.
Under the guidance of Ms. Ranjana Verma and Ms. Veena Chib (Yoga Teachers), students performed a range of yogic asanas and breathing exercises that formed part of the Common Yoga Protocol. The presence and participation of parents added further strength to the collective message of wellness, unity, and harmony.
The event was graced by Sh. Sat Sharma, Hon’ble President, BJP, J&K, Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hon’ble MP, Lok Sabha, Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana, Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha, Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Hon’ble Chairman and MLA, Bahu and Dr. Raghavendra Rao, Hon’ble Director, CCRYN (Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy)
Event 2: Grand Celebration at Gulshan Ground on 21st June
On 21st June 2025, another contingent of DPS Jammu students and faculty joined the district-level Yoga Day event at Gulshan Ground, organized by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and Department of School Education. Schools from across Jammu district participated in this well-coordinated celebration.
The event began with warm-up exercises followed by a series of asanas such as Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, and Pranayama, performed with enthusiasm and precision by the students. The event witnessed massive participation from students, NCC cadets, teachers, and local citizens, creating an electrifying atmosphere of collective mindfulness.
The celebration was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Cabinet Minister Shri Satish Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Shri Ramesh Kumar (IAS), ADC Ms. Anusuya Jamwal, and SP South Mr. Ajay Sharma (JKPS), who commended the participants and emphasized the importance of adopting yoga as a way of life.
Both events served as a powerful reminder of the importance of yoga in today’s fast-paced, high-stress world. The participants not only learned the techniques of yoga but also imbibed its deeper values — discipline, balance, mindfulness, and unity. Through yoga, the students experienced a renewed sense of self-awareness and community.
